We are excited to announce the launch of the DRIVe 2.0 project’s Intermediate Level E-Mobility Training! Last week, we welcomed the first intermediate training cohort at the Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) at Nakawa Vocational Training Institute.
The training brought together skilled industry technicians and instructors from vocational institutions in Uganda specializing in electrical, mechanical, and automotive engineering. They participated in intensive practical sessions focusing on key areas, including:
- Workplace Safety
- Introduction to E-Mobility
- Mechanical-Electrical Integration in E-Motorcycles
- EV Charging and Swapping Infrastructure
- Diagnostic Techniques for E-Motorcycle Components
- Electrical Installation of Battery Swap Stations
Throughout this training, participants will provide feedback to enhance the curriculum continually for future cohorts, ensuring it aligns with the immediate industry demands. This week, the participants will receive hands-on training at the GOGO Electric Production Facility, gaining real-world experience in the e-mobility ecosystem.
The combination of in-classroom knowledge transfer and the hands-on training in diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the electric motorcycle and charging infrastructure offers a unique opportunity for trainees.
The Developing Relevant and Innovative Vocational Skills in E-mobility (DRIVe) project is a joint intervention by GOGO Electric and the GIZ WE4D and PREEEP programmes, commissioned by BMZ, in collaboration with the EU and NORAD, and implemented by GIZ.
Stay tuned for more updates as we drive towards a sustainable future
